Thoughts over tea

We can live without religion and meditation,
but we cannot survive without human affection.

Dalai Lama

Today I was drinking my tea while reading the comments on my blog. It felt heart warming to share thoughts like this. It made me realize how important it is to be able to share and feel a connection with other people.

The more I see how many of my actions are conducted by the need to be loved and acknowledged, the more I understand these actions. Isn't it so that the most of our feelings of anger, fear and jealousy find their roots in the fact that we feel denied in our need for love and affection?

I am often amazed by the power of this need and it gives me a feeling of peace when I look around me and see that in fact we are all in need. And how this want for love and affection connects us all. So while I am drinking my tea I think of all the lovely people from all over the world who are drinking tea at this moment too.

We look completely different, have different backgrounds and maybe can't communicate because we speak different languages. But our deepest inner layer is the same, we all need love and affection and as long as we use love to communicate we all can touch and understand each other. Take care and thank you for sharing this Sunday tea :))

There is more hunger in the world
for love and appreciation in this world
than for bread.

Thoughts over tea

Have patience with everything that
remains unsolved in your heart.
Try to love the questions themselves,
like locked rooms and like books written in a foreign language.
Do not now look for the answers.
They cannot now be given to you
because you could not live them.
It is a question of experiencing everything.
At present you need to live the question.
Perhaps you will gradually, without even noticing it,
find yourself experiencing the answer, some distant day.

Rainer Maria Rilke

Rainer Maria Rilke is one of my favourite poets and this is one of my dearest poems by him. I often read his work during a cup of tea. But this morning I just have time for one cup because in about half an hour a friend is picking us up. Today we are making a cat house for my mother, so she can sit outside with her cats in the sun.
I really love it to work with my hands and to create something. Today the three of us are working outside while my mother cooks for us during the day. It is so lovely to work together with love on a project each one doing his part and to finally create something new together.

The idea of my mother sitting happily outside with her cats in the new cat house makes me smile and is worth all the effort. Take care today and enjoy your tea with love :))

This is the miracle that happens every time to those who really love:
the more they give, the more they possess.

Thoughts over tea

You can search throughout the entire universe
for someone who is more deserving

of your love and affection than you are yourself,
and that person is not to be found anywhere.

You yourself,
as much as anybody in the entire universe
deserve your love and affection.

Buddha

Today I am feeling much better again, it is always a relieve to share the dark moments of personal failure with someone or to write it down. This way you can place them in the light and in the light everything seems less intimidating then in the shadow.

I read this saying of the Buddha this morning and it made me smile. I can look at the mistakes of others with love but despite myself when I am struggling with my own lessons. By reading this I realized that I should treat my self with the same amount of love that I can feel for others. This saying really moved me and while drinking a cup of tea in the sun I felt tears in my eyes but I didn't felt sad at all anymore :)

Every time when I have the feeling that I have learnt another lesson I feel the happy need to clean myself and my house hihi. So today I am cleaning my home and I have all the windows open to let the fresh air come in. The sun even shines and while listening to Mozart I am washing my hair and clothes. It feels like a lovely new beginning, two steps forward.... :)

The burden of the self is lightened with I laugh at myself.

Thoughts over tea..

Drink your tea slowly and reverently,
as if it is the axis on which the world earth revolves -
slowly, evenly, without rushing toward the future.

~Thich Nat Hahn

Today I was playing around with a lovely new vase I bought with my mother for only 1.99 Euro at Ikea. I love to make new arrangements which cost almost nothing hihi. Somehow they are so much more rewarding to me :)

When I finished my decorating I sat down with a cup of tea to look at my new corner. I was in the mood for peppermint tea and while preparing the tea I could see a wonderful reflection in the cup. As I looked longer I started to see a whole dream landscape.....

O' peppermint tea -
two delights per sip
as steamy hot as passion
cool as a wintry lake dip

~Astrid Alauda

Hihi this is such a lovely poem while drinking mint tea (I know I am a hopeless dreamer and romanticist). But on a cold a rainy day like this one nothing beats a good cup of peppermint tea.

It is almost half past eleven in the evening now and it is still raining. I guess I will go to bed early to read and take some camomile tea with me.

For those of you who read this post in the morning; take a good look in your tea cup and who knows what you will see.
Take care and have a lovely dreamy day :)

Thoughts over tea...

Today is a very rainy and dark day, but for a Sunday very cosy too. The perfect wetter to stay inside in my old pyjamas and with hot tea. I am in the mood for lemon tea and browsing through decorating magazines. I have bought some Turkish delight yesterday at my favourite Turkish supermarket and that is just what I need. Something sweet to match my lemon tea hmmm.....I just love the book series from Taschen with the most beautiful decorated houses from all over the world. On this dark day I dream away with colourful pictures of interiors in Morocco style.Everything got smudged with powdered sugar within five minutes! How do you eat this?! My dog Pork ate a dropped Turkish delight and I haven't heard from him for over half an hour. Now I have to "save" him by scraping it of his teeth hihi.Well this isn't exactly a scene from 1000 and one night hihi. Little old Pork still struggling with the remains of the Turkish delight and me feeling a bit sick wondering why I ate eight of them instead of three...?!But it is a lovely day after all. Pork and I warm on the couch with tea, candy and books. While we cuddle up against each other I can hear the wind blowing outside. It makes me feel warm and save :)Have yourself a warm and cosy Sunday evening and be careful with the Turkish delight ;)

Thoughts over tea

Today I got up early for a Sunday, at eight o'clock to be precise. I am going to visit my parents in law today and I wanted to make my blog first. It is strange but in the lazy comfort of a day free from work you suddenly seem to notice how important friends and family are in your lives. We will have to travel three hours by train and I love it to watch the other travellers during the train journey. Where are they going to and who are they going to visit? It always intrigues me and the most exciting stories spin through my head while I watch the other passengers come and go. My first cup of tea today is a feast because I have a little fruit cup cake with it. It is sweet and the jelly sparkles in the sunlight. Cakes always remind me of birthdays and celebrations of some kind. I know that later this day we will get a lovely home baked cake or an other treat along with our tea again. Such a lovely way to let people know that they are welcome :)) Well the cake is finished and after I made a little flower arrangement for a present, we will be on our way. I wish you a lovely day with the ones you love. Or maybe you live alone and are enjoying the warm comforts of your home today. Anyway let's make it a lovely Sunday with tea and cake to celebrate it:))
