Inner child

To speak truly, few adult persons can see nature.
Most persons do not see the sun.
At least they have a very superficial seeing.
The sun illuminates only the eye of the man,
but shines into the eye and heart of the child.
The lover of nature is he whose inward and outward
senses are still truly adjusted to each other;
who has retained the spirit of infancy even into the era of manhood.

~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Today I am quite dreamy and although I have to leave for an appointment in about half an hour I am still in my house-suit sipping from my tea. I found these marbles in the cellar which I have had since I was a child. It gave me a strange feeling when I saw them again after so many years. Like they belonged to a distance past but at the same time I could feel that child vividly inside me.

It is good to treasure our inner child I guess....to keep that open pure view. Today I felt her deep inside and I promised myself to take good care of her. Have a playful day and take care :)

A child's world is fresh and new and beautiful,
full of wonder and excitement.
It is our misfortune that for most of us that clear-eyed vision,
that true instinct for what is beautiful and awe-inspiring,
is dimmed and even lost before we reach adulthood.

~Rachel Carson

So true, Sas. I hope to keep the child in me alive now...I remember abandoning it a decade or so ago. And then someone (..I call her my Godchild..) came along to show me the beauty of life again. And, now your blog inspires me everyday to see beauty and love in everything. Thanks for sharing. Lovely quotes and sweet post.
catch you later...take care and have a lovely day.

Sas, it's amazing that you still have those marbles. Love the sunlight through the glass marbles. I have no doubt that your inner child is alive and well since you see things as if a child is experiencing it for the first time i.e. with the same excitement and curiosity. Don't ever lose it!

hi Sas,
I like Emerson's work too, but I don't think that I'm capable of fully understand his writings and his thoughts.I'm still working on that...still trying to figure out how to take care of my "trasures"...
I paticularly love your interpretation in this post, and also your childhood marbles! This post just gives me hope and makes me "real young", I feel light-hearted....thanks!Have a nice day and take care too:)

Dear Sindi,

Thank you for your open and lovely comment.

I don't fully understand the work of Emerson too but sometimes I get insight in a situation when I read his work. To me it is more a matter of feeling his work. If I try to understand it with my head I loose the connection.

To me it feels like reading poetry; sometimes the words of a poem flow straight inside and move me. I guess they touch something inside but do I fully understand them? No, I just fully feel them :)

Thanks for sharing your thoughts dear Sindi they make me feel light-hearted too, take care :))

with love, Sas
