Exposed...

Exposed to violence...

Thich Nhat Hanh;

“We are often exposed, if not first hand, then through films, reading material, and conversations, to violence, fear, hatred, meaningless infatuations. Society is full of violence and hatred, which accumulates in the collective consciousness.

If in our daily lives we do not know now to abstain from damaging materials and attitudes, the seeds of violence, hatred and suffering in us will continue to be watered. We need to be aware of what we hear, see, and read every day… Do our associations and consumptions poison us?”

The last weeks I have had troubles with sleeping. I just could not fall asleep even though I was really tired. I tried a lot of different things but nothing helped. Then I remembered that very often before I went to sleep I watched a movie or spend time on the internet.

Now I don't watch TV or at images at my computer anymore at least one hour before I go to bed. Instead I listen to relaxing music and burn some incense or look at something that I find very beautiful. Like a burning candle or a beautiful flower. And it really works....my mind is more at ease and I don't have troubles falling asleep anymore. Above that I can feel how I get more inner peace..... There is still so much positive beauty in the world why focus on the negativity?
Take care and I hope you will see a lot of beauty today :)

People usually consider walking on water or in thin air a miracle.
But I think the real miracle is not to walk either
on water or in thin air,
but to walk on earth.
Every day we are engaged in a miracle
which we don't even recognize;
a blue sky, white clouds, green leaves,
the black curious eyes of a child -- our own two eyes.
All is a miracle.

I loved this post Sas. And, how true. I hardly turn on the TV news channels who love to portray violence and bad stuff in society. And, as you so rightly say..negativity fuels negativity. Thanks for the tip for a relaxing sleep. I too have this problem... Should follow what you tried. The end quote is so beautiful. Lovely shots. what flower is it? :))..take care and have a lovely day.

As Albert Einstien said " You can go through life as though everything is a miracle or as though nothing is a miracle"

Thank you Sas, for this beautiful post with such amzaing photos!

It's also amazing that I have actually written something in an E-mail to my friend about being on earth and recgnizing our own miracles as well.

Reading your post just feels like talking with an old friend who gets insights through happiness as well as sufferings and shares everything that I need.

And now I'd like to share something with you too, just for your better sleep...it is my favourite relaxing music about clouds,hope you enjoy it.:)

Sas, I am blown away by the beautiful pictures. I don't know how you take such phenomenal pics each time. I have been through the same thing where keeping my mind active just before going to bed is not helpful. So I always think peaceful thoughts and guess what I often think about these days? Your beautiful, peaceful pictures and quotes and believe me they have helped me to fall asleep! My best remedy is doing yoga 2-3 hours before going to bed, that puts me to sleep like a baby!!! Hope you had some z..zz...s..

This is a post after my own heart. Cause I too feel very restless at night and find it tough to go to sleep. For a month now I have not been watching TV and doing relaxing things and I had no problem, but last night I watched TV for 2 whole hours and lost count of time & it was really late by the time I hit bed & sure enough woke up late. This is a pattern I SO want to break.
I love Thich Naht Hahn quotes. Thanx for this post. And your photography is spell binding.
