Sisters

To the outside world we all grow old.
But not to brothers and sisters.
We know each other as we always were.
We know each other's hearts.
We share private family jokes.
We remember family feuds and secrets,
family griefs and joys.
We live outside the touch of time.

~Clara Ortega

Today I came home late and talked with my younger sister on the phone for a while. As I hung up the phone I suddenly realized how much I love her and how our relationship has changed. We used to argue a lot, driving our mother mad with our rows. But there was always love between us and in the past years she has become my closest and truest friend. I guess all that duality was necessary to get to the beautiful point we are now :))

I don't believe an accident of birth
makes people sisters or brothers.
It makes them siblings, gives them mutuality of parentage.
Sisterhood and brotherhood is a condition
people have to work at.

Very moving post Sas....brought back memories of childhood and time spent with my younger sister. Now we are in two different continents but as you rightly say the connect will always be there.
Lovely shot.

Thank you dear Vani for your open comment :))

The ones we love are in our hearts and that connection can't be broken even when we are apart.

Take care and sleep well :))

Loved your observations - they are 'right on target'. I lost my little sister to cystic fibrosis in 2001 and I still miss her so much. There is NO relationship quite like being sisters... treasure yours, Sas!

Dear Ginny,

Thank you for your open and honest comment, it really moved me...

You are right and I will treasure her because she has a place in the deepest layers of my soul. Just like your sister has in yours.

Take care my friend and a big hug to you :)

Dear Sas, you do resemble each other. Your honest and heartfelt emotions moved me. I have 3 older sisters who live on the other side of the continent too and when I visit them, it's like I never left them, even after so many years of living apart! It's truly a special bond, so glad that you realise it and cherish it!

I have a sister that lives 1500 km away from me, but one phone call is all I need to feel like she's right next to me! Lovely post Sas - thank you for making me think of my precious sister today.

Dear Rupa and Shelley,

Thank you for sharing your feelings :) I realise that I am very lucky that my sister lives nearby.

So beautiful to read that the distance you are facing is overcrossed by sister love,

My sister used to be close by & now she has moved to another city and I do miss her at times. Its true no one can love you and feel for you quite like your sister. And I smiled when I read about your arguments. My sis & i drove mom mad too :) But today we are each others support systems :)
