pre-Columbian art replicas

And here it is; my tiny collection of pre-Columbian art replicas. I began to collect them years ago when I was painting my house and saw work of the Mexican painter Frida Kahlo. I loved the warm colours used in Mexican interiors combined with pre-Columbian pottery. Finally my house became a mix of different colours and cultures :))This is a replica of a burial offering that was found in Mexico. The statue shows beautiful detail like bracelets, earrings and other jewellery. I have two books about pre-Columbian art and I love to compare the pictures in the books with my own lovely statues. If you could see me you would think that I excavated the sculptures myself ;))The pottery matches the colours of my house beautifully and combines with all kinds of wood. The intriguing patterns are hand painted and have a wonderful terracotta glow :)This is my favourite sculpture because of its orange colour and relaxed posture. It is the smallest one of the five sculptures but the most enchanting and detailed one :) So far today's entry about my small terracotta collection I hope you liked it. Thanks for the feedback and requests about them :) It is nice for me to know what interests you because this way I can adjust my topics :))

Sas, thank you so much for sharing your collection of little "relics". Wonderful, all. You'd be great to go on a shopping outing with. Though you jokingly said you have such great pride in these, as though you "excavated" them yourself, I think with your eye for deisgn you could excavate many a treasure and bring it to life in a special light in your home. I live in a very small space too. It can be a challenge. What I do like about it, is the element of cosyness, as well as the fact that due to space constraints one can only surround oneself with the items we really love and cherish.

So tell me, Sas -- are you a designer, a professional photographer? An amateur "anything" you are not! You're far too seasoned for that. Your blog is a wonderful daily escape for me. Thank you for sharing your space with all of us!
